Blackberry has unveiled their second and first mid-end Android smartphone, the DTEK50. Blackberry branded the phone as the world’s most secure Android device as the phone comes with Blackberry’s DTEK security suite and will be getting security updates on a weekly basis.

That said, let us take a look at the devices specs, shall we? Starting from the outside to the inside, DTEK50 comes a metal body carrying a 5.2-inch full HD (1080 × 1920) screen wit oleophobic coating, therefore, you won’t be seeing hand prints on the device’s screen. There is a convenience key placed at the right hand corner of the device. This key allows you to access your favorite app directly or mute the phone when you are on a call.

For pictures and videos, DTEK50 sports a 13MP rear camera equipped with dual tone LED flash, phase detection auto focus, an f/2.0 aperture and support for 1080p video recording at 30fps. An 8MP with an f/2.2 aperture, sits atop the device’s front.

Under the hood, you will find 3GB RAM, 16GB ROM, expandable to 2TB via MicroSD card. A 64-bit octa-core SnapDragon 617 runs DTEK50’s processes.
Powering the device is a 2,610 non-removable battery equipped with Quick charge 2.0. DTEK50 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

As stated earlier DTEK50 is mid-end device and it is the devices specifications that firmly places it in the mid-end category. As for pricing and availability, you can get the device at moment by placing pre-order request on Blackberry’s website, where DTEK50 sells for $299, which is well over, 90,000 Naira, based on current exchange rate. Blackberry is offering a free powerbank of 12,600mAh capacity to those pre-ordering. The pre-orders are expected to ship out as from August 8.
