Microblogging service, Twitter has increased the length of videos posted in the website from 30 seconds to 140 seconds, thereby creating an evenness with the 140 character limit for Tweets. This feature also cuts across Twitter to their sub-brand Vine, as Vine is also getting an expansion of its video length from 6 seconds to 140 seconds. The 140 video length is available to all users, in addition to this, “select publishers will continue to be able to post videos up to 10 minutes long through Twitter’s professional publisher tools”. Top Vine creators are not left out of the fun as they will be able to add longer 140 seconds videos to the shorter 6 seconds video. To achieve this, they will have the option of adding a view more button to short videos, this will take the viewer to the larger video- the 6 seconds video will become a trailer in this instance.
Twitter has also added more options to the way we can view these videos. Users now have the landscape viewing option, which creates more room for a full viewing experience. This makes sense because with more video length comes more viewing space – lol, that’s sage quote by Androidnigeria.
That said, Twitter is going to be more interactive and fun than ever. We have to wait to see how our Twitter folks will Crack ribs and make important statements with this new video rule. “Video is becoming increasingly central to the real-time conversations happening on Twitter – video Tweets on Twitter have increased by over 50% since the beginning of 2016”.
