Twitter people know how to identify a somewhat or very important person is by checking for Twitter’s verification sign, the check mark on the persons profile. Similarly, News agencies, organizations and businesses of good repute usually have a verified Twitter handle. Before now, getting a verified account seemed to be a privilege exclusive to persons, organizations and businesses of import. Well, all that has changed now as Twitter has opened the account verification process to everyone. That’s right, it is a process because getting the verified check mark requires that you meet certain standards put down by Twitter.

That said, here are the things you need to have/do to qualify getting your account verified

1. You need a website
2. You need a unique profile picture and a header photo.
3. You need a short bio
4. Non-business accounts will require a birthday date
5. Your Tweet view must be set on public. 6. Twitter will need to be able to confirm your email address and phone number. This is to ensure that it is a human making application.
7. Lastly, Twitter demands a short write up of 500 characters stating why you want your account to be verified. Twitter will give you a yes or no reply two days after submission.

That is all you need to get your account verified. So it is no longer a question of not being allowed a verified account but a question of why you need it and if it is necessary. A verified account will quite help authenticate you before new comers who do not know you and what you do. It will also help get more engagements and viewership of your Tweets. Getting you account verified all depends on what you want to achieve with it.
