During the fall event hosted by Google, the tech mogul took the wraps off some of the gadgets they have been working on. Without question, the much-anticipated Google Pixel devices were among the new gadgets announced. For those whose devices or who have devices at the center of their social life, the unveiling of the Pixel devices, Google Pixel and Google Pixel Xl was the high point of yesterday’s event. Both devices have lived up to the hype so far and have already gone on to hold a world record for the best camera according to DXoMark rating of 89. Both devices are the first smartphones to come with Google’s AI virtual assistant fully functioning. So no you can order for pizza or book an Uber ride by holding your home button giving a voice command.

That said; the Pixel and Pixel XL are equals in nearly all aspects save for battery, screen size, and screen resolution. These differences are what make the Google Pixel XL, truly XL. The Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch super AMOLED screen with a Quad HD (2550 x 1990 pixels) resolution. Pixel XL houses 4GB RAM, a non-expandable 32GB/128GB internal memory, an impressive Qualcomm SnapDragon 821 chipset, and Adreno 530 GPU.

For pictures and videos, the device comes with a 12.3MP camera equipped with Double LED flash (dual tone) f/2.0, phase detection & laser autofocus. The front camera comes with an 8MP camera with f/2.4, 1/3.2″ sensor size, 1.4 µm pixel size, 1080p. Pixel XL will run a tweaked version of the Android 7.0 Nougat, that is, the Pixel XL won’t be the regular stock Android device we used to see in the Nexus line. This time, its OS will have its own special features that cannot be found in the mainstream Android 7.0 Nougat.

A humongous non-removable 3,450mAhmAh battery that has fast charging capability powers the Pixel XL. The device also comes with a reverse charging USB chord and a type-c port. Other noteworthy features of the Pixel XL include; a fingerprint scanner, LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC and hotspot.

On the other hand, Google Pixel comes with the same specifications as the Pixel XL. They only differ in the battery size, screen size, and resolution. Pixel carries a 5-inch super AMOLED screen with Full HD (1800 x 1190 pixels) resolution. This device is powered by a non-removable 2,770mAh battery, also equipped with fast charging capabilities and comes with a type-C port and reverse charging connector.  Both devices will be available in three colours with uncommon names, quite silver, really blue and very black.

The Pixel and Pixel XL come with enough features that will make a regular techy to salivate in want for the device. Both devices are almost similar specs save for pertinent differences; however, the deciding factor as regards which one to purchase, may just be price or phone size. The price for the devices starts from $649 for the 32GB variant of the Pixel and $723 for the 32GB variant of the Pixel XL. Both devices are expected to ship from October 20.
