The Huawei Mate 9 is Huawei’s latest flagship phone. It is the successor of the Huawei Mate 8. Before the device was unveiled, we had seen a lot about the devices through leaks. Thankfully, we did not see all of it, Huawei managed to keep some specifications away from the media, thus, making the unveiling an exciting day as well.
The Huawei Mate 9 specifications was true to leaks. The devices body is cut from metal, given it a sturdy feel. On the front, the device carries a 5.9-inch IPS screen with a Full HD resolution. A 2.5D glass is placed on the screen to strengthen it further.
Under the hood, Huawei’s latest processor the Kirin 960 handles the device processes. The Kirin 960 is super efficient and effective with a octa-core consisting of 4 Cortex A-73 cores with a max speed of 2.4gHz and 4 Cortex A-53 cores with a max speed of 1.8gHz. Kirin 960 is clubbed with the latest ARM Mali G71 MP8 GPU, 4GB RAM and a 64GB expandable internal memory.
Huawei Mate 9’s camera is the main highlight of the device. The device comes with a second generation Leica cameras. With dual camera’s at its rear, a 20MP camera with f2/2 monochrome. and a 12MP camera with f2/2 colour sensor. Both cameras have a hybrid auto-focus (made up of phase detection, laser, depth and contrast detection), ISO, motion tracker, a dual-tone dual LED flash and they are capable of shooting 4k videos. On the front, Mate 9 carries an 8MP camera with f1/9 aperture and auto focus. Huawei says that Mate 9’s camera can zoom without any substantial or visible loss of photo quality. The function is made possible by a new tech (hybrid zoom) developed by Huawei in partnership with Leica.
Huawei Mate 9 is powered by a non-removable 4,000mAh battery equipped with a fast charge function. Mate 9 will run Android 7.0 Nougat tweaked with Huawei’s EMUI 5. Other notable features of the device include it’s rear mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, speaker’s, Bluetooth, WiFi, Hotspot.
Huawei Mate 9 is indeed a sturdy phone with specs that compete favourably with high end devices on the market. The device will come in Black, ceramic white, champagne gold, space gray, moonlight silver, and Mocha brown.
The device will be made available first to China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates. Other regions will be added subsequently over time. The pricing of the Mate 9 is starts from $775 ( well over #200,000 at current exchange rate) the normal variant of the Mate 9. Huawei has a luxury version in the works, the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche edition. The device reportedly going to cost $1,500.
