Will Snapchat ‘Micro’ be coming to the Galaxy Gear ?

Snapchat ‘Micro’ will be coming to the Galaxy Gear

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Gear smartwatch in Berlin last week. At the time we learned the specs of the watch and a bit about the availability

Since that point we have also seen details about how the watch had 12 apps ready for launch with more than 70 others in the works. Well, it looks like Snapchat will be one of those apps.

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Gear it rolled out a solid list of well-known apps that will be supported on the device, and now Snapchat is announcing it will have a “Micro” version of its app for the smartwatch.

Now you’ll be able to take self-destructing 1.9MP photos from your wrist. Except the Galaxy Gear version of Snapchat will have a slightly different name. The app will be called Snapchat Micro, though the feature set is just what you would expect, hope and/or fear with an app that is designed for a camera-equipped smartwatch.

Specifically, you will be able to capture, set the timer, preview and then share those images. The spontaneous use of Snapchat really does lend itself to the always-on nature of a small camera on your wrist, and it’s good to see Samsung getting together with popular app makers to have these types of apps ready for launch.

Users will also be able to add drawings or captions to those images. Needless to say, those going that route will not be able to complete the entire process on the watch.

What do you feel about the Snapchat Micro for the Samsung Galaxy Gear? Let’s just sit and watch as the Galaxy Gear will be hitting the stores very soon
